The WARP Managed Service Platform (WARP-MSP) and FWA Software

There are two WARP applications which can help WARP Operators create effective WARP services for the benefit of their members. The WARP MSP (Managed Service Platform) provides a turnkey platform supporting all three WARP services. Alternatively the WARP FWA (Filtered Warnings Application) is a software application that supports the Filtered Warnings Service and can be run on the WARP Operators own platform.

2. WARP FWA
Get your WARP off the ground.
The WARP Managed Service Platform (WARP-MSP) allows a new WARP to operate a web-based community with ease. For a single annual fee, all the tasks that can distract from building and operating your WARP are taken care of, including hardware and software provision, hosting, and even providing commonly required content. What is more, any surplus revenue earned by the WARP-MSP will be invested back into the not-for-profit WARP programme via the WARP Trust.
Easy to access, with all the help you need.
Your WARP-MSP instance is accessed securely via the Internet. Provision of a SSL certificate, firewall, dedicated server hardware and software is included within the annual fee. The appearance of the site can be modified to include any specific colour, logo or font requirements you may have. Your WARP-MSP system will be backed up and patched for you, leaving you free to help your community reap the benefits of WARP membership.

Support for all the WARP services and more.
The WARP-MSP integrates the unique WARP Filtered Warnings Application with Microsoft SharePoint® services. Summary filtered warnings are presented to WARP members on their homepage, with links to full articles, and common advisories are provided automatically from CSIRTUK. Advice brokering is facilitated via a searchable Good Practice knowledge base, pre-populated with default content from CPNI, BERR, CESG and more. Discussion groups also support Advice brokering, along with a shared document repository. There is an online Trusted Sharing reporting form, which supports workflow to allow controlled publication of information.
Why not keep your members up to date with your own views and activities? As a WARP operator you can stay in touch with your community via the WARP Operator’s Blogand your members can give you feedback via comments. Plus standard SharePoint® features like Announcements and Calendaring can all help to keep your WARP community working together. As new information is added, WARP members can receive e-mail notifications linking to new content.
The WARP-MSP is available now, and a free one-month trial can be offered to selected WARP communities. The standard WARP-MSP service costs £6000 + VAT per year.
For further details or to discuss a free trial, please get in touch by e-mailing warp-msp@warptrust.org.

FWA Software
A software package called the Filtered Warnings Application (FWA) has been produced that can be deployed by WARPs to assist in the operation of the Filtered Warnings service. The user interface of the Filtered Warnings Application is very simple for WARP members, who complete and maintain their subscription profiles, and for WARP operators, who create the warnings and advisories. The subscription lists are provided as “tick-lists” in a tree structure which enables the member to easily select a whole branch or individual items - as shown.

The application provides a default tick-list, complete with entries found to be useful to other WARPs. The subscription tree can easily be modified to include any categories, to reflect the needs of each WARP community.
To view a short movie showing how easy it is to select the information using the subscription tree, click below.
Introduction to subscription tree
The Filtered Warnings Application (FWA) software is only available to registered WARPs (i.e. approved by CPNI under the WARP registration process) who have paid the appropriate fee and agreed to the end user software licence agreement. To obtain the software and licence key please contact
FWA General information
This document describes the format used to represent notifications within FWA, and may be useful to those that wish to inteface data feeds with the application. A full API that allows integration with the FWA peer-to-peer interface is available on request, please contact for further details.
Filtered Warnings Application - Data Fields (V1.0 October 2006)
It is a good idea to organise a controlled trial of all the WARP services prior to announcing the system is live. The following document describes a suitable trial plan for a WARP deploying the Filtered Warnings Application, but the phased approach described could be applied to any WARP service.

FWA download and support
An external development company, Avius Experience, provide a download facility for the FWA software and a site to collect together the FWA guidance material (Video clips, Handbook etc). This is presently only available to registered WARPs using the FWA software. The company is also offering a support contract to WARPs using FWA. For futher details contact NB. CPNI do not favour one supplier over another and encourage other suppliers who may want to support FWA to offer similar services.
FWA v5.0 - release February 2007
FWA V5.0 is an important step in the development of FWA as it reduces the cost of ownership considerably by providing the capability to run multiple instances of FWA on the same PC operating system (Windows Server 2003) while at the same time being compatible with the Microsoft SQL Server free edition (Express). The system requirements for FWA v5.0 are described in the following document.
