The Radio Amateurs Emergency Network WARP (RAYWARP)
The RAYNET WARP is a voluntary sector WARP operated by The Radio Amateurs’ Emergency Network ( Registered Charity No. 1047725 ). The organisation provides emergency communications to bodies defined in the Civil Contingencies Act and the Amateur Radio licence when their own communications are overloaded or have failed.
The WARP concept is valuable to RAYNET since members can be intensive users of electronic data and Internet services either in the business continuity operations of the network or in the development of data systems which interface with those of the User Services.
A WARP is seen as providing support both to existing system environments by sharing of appropriate advice as well as allowing internal support to specialised software packages used within the Network. The intention is that as a supplier of standby communications the Network must not fall victim to common modes of failure with those networks we may replace. The WARP distributes warnings filtered from UNIRAS and provides a clearing house for individuals reporting problems or seeking advice.
