Annual Forum 2009
This year was the 5 th Forum and the theme ‘Opportunities At Home and Abroad’ looked at specific opportunities for WARPs in the UK and also opportunities in an international context. The Forum was held on 8 September at the Law Society in London with positive feedback, a summary of which is included in the Forum report published below. Presentations are available by clicking here.
As the report below shows, in the UK we looked at the role and position of the Information Commissioner’s Office and how they can work with WARPs, as well as looking at the implications of the new UK Cyber Security Strategy on the wider public sector. Last year we heard about how WARPs could have helped in the Athens 2004 games so we are taking this forward and looked at WARPs for London 2012. In an international context, we looked at a number of European projects relating to trusted information sharing, including the work ENISA are doing, as well as hearing from some of our International WARPs in Ireland and Japan.
Annual WARP Forum Report September 2009
The morning plenary sessions were designed to inform and create an environment for discussion and action, not just in the afternoon workshops, but later when delegates have had time to reflect on the day. The acid test of success is simply that the day will instigate action and change with the creation of more WARPs. In addition, to ensure the WARP programme meets the needs of WARP communities, we asked Workshop Chairs to facilitate the creation of recommendations from the collective experience of delegates. These recommendations were shared at the afternoon plenary session and will be captured in a Forum report. These will then be reviewed and taken forward under the direction of the WARP Operators’ Forum.
Our delegate target list included public and private sector, industry and academia from the UK and many other countries in Europe and beyond. All of us in the WARP Programme team are delighted that so many people were able to join us on the 8 th September, and we thank our sponsors QCC and Baronscourt for their support. Thankyou also to all our speakers and workshop chairs and facilitators, and everyone who joined us for your support and contribution to making it a stimulating and rewarding day.
If you have any comments on the day please let us know.

Annual Forum 2008

The event was attended by over 100 delegates and included attendees from Holland, Ireland and Canada with presentations from the US, Italy and Greece. As usual, the Annual WARP Forum offered delegates a unique opportunity to listen to presentations from experts in the field, network with other people active in the area, and to share advice and experiences. For some delegates it was also the first opportunity to learn about WARPS and gave them a chance to talk to people who had had experience of setting up and running WARPs.
This year the event was generously sponsored by the 7 organisations shown below:
Annual Forum 2007
The Annual WARP Forum, March 2007, was held in Leeds Town Hall (photo) with over 70 delegates and included attendees from Japan, the Netherlands and Switzerland. Experience ranged from representatives of existing, fully operational WARPs to delegates who were learning about WARPs for the first time. The event offered delegates a unique opportunity to network with other people active in the area, and to share advice and experiences. For most delegates it was also the first opportunity to learn about, and provide input to, the development of a WARP Trust.
